Special Delivery
It’s not as convenient as a street elevator, but it looks like it’s a lot more fun. The McDonald’s at the corner of 13th & F had a recent Sunday morning delivery.
This must have been a decent number of boxes being delivered to make setting up the track worthwhile, otherwise you’d think a hand truck would do the trick.
You wouldn’t know it from this photo, but there were quite a few people on F St that morning. Most who were walking by just ducked under the track, all refused my requests for an action shot though.
The track extended into the restaurant, but people were still going into & coming out of the restaurant undeterred. I guess nothing comes between some folks and their Egg McMuffin.

Does everyone know that Target opened yesterday in DC? Hop on the yellow/green line at Gallery Place and head up 4 stops to the Columbia Heights station. You pop out right in front of Target. It’s AMAZING!
And, in the next few weeks, Best Buy, Marshal’s and other big box stores will open there too.

The Giant just a short block from the new Target is pretty nice. We have been going there for several months.
Planning on visiting Target today.
Hey happy shopper — I don’t know how someone could have missed the myriad of Target-opening announcements. I will shop there and I will not take a car. Don’t worry Columbia Heights folks — PQers are mostly pedestrians.
I have a question for members of the community. We live next door to a McDonald’s in the neighborhood.
At what hours do you feel it is okay for a tractor-trailer to:
1) illegally park in front of the restaurant (even thought they have access to a loading dock behind the restuarant);
2) Keep its motor running; and,
3) Unload using a rattingly handtruck?
Currently, they often come late at night (after 11 pm, often 1 am) and early morning (5 am)?
Would love to hear what other neighborhood residents think of this? Should we complain (the sharp noises and rattling wake us up)?
#5: I’ve noticed this too – not just with McDonalds. Many restaurants have alley access, but they all seem to choose to load supplies through the front door.
The noise annoys me from time to time, but I know that a lot of alleys don’t support some of the larger delivery trucks.
It would be nice if they made their deliveries during the day instead of the odd hours at night.

the CVS on 8th needs to figure out how to do something like this. loading inventory through the front door is just no fun for employees or for customers. so it goes !
