A Voting Precinct Is Born: Number 143
Earlier this week, we mentioned the DC Board of Elections and Ethics Board meeting considering the creation of a new voting precinct in Ward 6’s slice of the Penn Quarter, Chinatown and Mount Vernon Square. The good news from yesterday’s Board meeting is in and a new precinct, number 143, will be established with the Chinese Community Church at 500 I Street, NW, acting as the polling location. According to the Downtown Neighborhood Association’s website, 2285 registered voters live within the new precinct boundaries and that number can be driven higher.

Its about time they recognized us as a precinct. Now if they can just adjust the ANC boundaries so we arent split into 3.
A huge THANK YOU to everyone involved. I am very grateful for all the work you’ve done on behalf of people like me who live in the Judiciary Square neighborhood.
Query–I live in the new voting precinct. I’m a previously-registered voter, so do I need to do anything prior to voting in November? Such as update my registration? Or can I just show up in November with my voter registration card at the Chinese Community Church? Thanks!
Great–I’m glad they are including City Vista since we’ll be residents there as of this fall! I had sent an email requesting that they extend the border since it previously ended at K street…I wonder if the email paid off…?
Sorry, the comment form is closed at this time.
I was chatting with Miles G. from DNA & he pointed out that the new precinct went up to K st & would omit City Vista. while their polling place isnt far at all, its gone. whats going to happen for the next election because they’ve started demo & construction at Walker Jones. This will also affect residents in the “chimney,” museum sq. apts, 200k, golden rule…I’m sure they will designate an alternate location but we should keep an eye out as there are lots of seniors.
