Project Awareness Litter Campaign
We’ve written various litter related posts before, but this morning we noticed a grassroots campaign (at least we think it’s a campaign) aimed at stopping litter. This campaign takes up the fight for wildlife – the last line (not completely legible in the photo) reads “Animals Don’t Have A Voice But We Do.”
Quick Internet searches didn’t turn up any online presence for these fliers so we have no idea who posted them. We found a few taped to park benches on the Mall this morning. No idea if they’ll change human behavior, but we certainly thought the Mall looked nicer after Memorial Day than it usually does.

Mrs Columbo pointed out the fighting litter with litter aspect of these fliers. I almost included that in the post but thought I’d see what others had to say first.
I spend plenty of time harping on littering and even created a blog around the topic (treebox vodka). However, these signs are pretty damn lame. Mainly to monkeyerotica’s point that these signs are just going to end up on the streets themselves. Ideally the grassroots organizers could of put some contact info on there that says if you see on this street please contact me for removal, or something like that to show they really care.
This isn’t a problem, it’s an opportunity. We need to get Popeyes and KFC to sponsor trash cans every block for chicken bones, complete with advertising. They get ad space, the rats can’t get the chicken bones, the city gets revenue from fees, and the garbage is off the street.
Now, if we could just get Charmin to sponsor toilet paper dispensers in alleys for human waste we’d be golden.
Furter comment re”Charmin to sponsor toilet paper”.
This city could certainly benefit from a few of the “self-cleaning pay” toilets found on the streets of Paris and other European cities.
Sorry, the comment form is closed at this time.
How much you want to bet these signs end up being turned into litter? These seem about as effective as the “Don’t Block the Box” signs at intersections.
The critical flaw in these signs is that it presupposes that morons actually know how to read, let alone care.
