Jimbo, Rocky & Angel Together Again
In October of 2007 we told you about the demise of the greatest channel on over-the-air tv. We still don’t have a music station on free TV, but WJLA is now broadcasting on HD channel 7-3 the Retro Television Network. RTN might surpass The Tube (at least in the Columbo household) as the greatest free channel ever. RTN broadcasts old TV shows such as Magnum P.I., The Rockford Files, Kojak, and many more (one notable missing show is the greatest detective series ever, featuring Peter Falk, what was that show called again?).
You’re going to have to put up with a lot of infomercials, the same variety we used to see on The Tube. That worries us, but all we can do is watch.
And buy a Total Gym, I guess.

You know another show I should have mentioned that’s on RTN? The Incredible Hulk.
Has there ever been a tv show with a more melancholy theme? That sad piano tune (The Lonely Man) at the end of each episode, gets me everytime. If only that Mr. McGee would leave David Banner alone!
Good old Rockford – good theme music, too. An recent article in the SF Chronicle mentioned that Streets of San Francisco may be back as a network series. It also mentioned the beginning to the show as the first mainstream use of the quick cuts / dizzying cuts that MTV made popular.

there’s a link to the opening there – it’s a classic, man, a true classic

#1, if you’re still reading, I hate to be the bearer of bad news. The UFO channel is going off the air in DC. I was flipping past the channels today & saw a caption box sliding by saying that today (8/10/08) was their last day on the air on TV49.
Sorry, the comment form is closed at this time.
