Metro Region’s Oldest Synagogue Building to Make Historic Second Move On Wed, Nov 3 At 10 AM
The Capitol Crossing project, which we’ve mentioned here and here, keeps moving forward and tomorrow will mark an impressive feat of construction engineering when the historic Jewish synagogue and museum at 3rd and G will be relocated. The public can watch this happening tomorrow, Wednesday, November 3 at 10 am. On to the press release text below:
Metro Region’s Oldest Synagogue Building to Make Historic Second Move
WASHINGTON, DC – Tomorrow at 10 a.m., Property Group Partners with Wolfe House and Building Movers will begin the relocation of the Historic 1876 Adas Israel Synagogue, home of the Lillian and Albert Small Jewish Museum, from its current site at Third and G streets, NW as part of a two-part move. The synagogue will remain just off of Third Street for 24-30 months when it will be moved to its final location at Third and F streets, NW. This is the second time the building will be relocated in its 140-year history.
WHO: Historic 1876 Adas Israel Synagogue, Home of the Lillian and Albert Small Jewish Museum
WHEN: Thursday, November 3 at 10 a.m. (**Work is scheduled to begin at this time and is estimated to take approximately 45 minutes, however due to the nature of construction work is subject to change.)
WHERE: Third and G Streets, NW
