First 2009 Hirshhorn After Hours In One Week
One of our favorite Friday after work/evening events is back in one week’s time on Friday, March 27 from 8 pm to Midnight. It’s none other than After Hours at the Hirshhorn Museum at Independence Ave and 7th Street SW. Want to play outdoors or indoors? No problem either way. Music, beverages and fun people abound too as the Hirshhorn hosts an evening party better described as a multimedia event. More after the jump…
There are a few changes this year. Tickets will only be sold in advance so you cannot wait until the last minute expecting to buy them at the door. The cost? A bit higher…at $18. (Free for museum members.) Management also promises more bathrooms and a different bar setup for quicker service all the way around. Anyone who went last year knows why the last improvements were much needed.
What’s on for the first After Hours of the season? According to the web site…
Video artist Ricardo Rivera and the Klip Collective, whose large scale projections can be seen around the world, joins Pieris Music’s Lumia Ensemble and Sean O’Neal (aka DJ someone else) and DJ Tleilaxu to transform the outdoor plaza into an all night, 360 degree audio visual immersion experience.
Don’t miss curator-led exhibition tours of Louise Bourgeois at 8:30 pm and Strange Bodies at 9:00 pm.
It’s fun, a short walk across the National Mall from the Penn Quarter and supports the arts any way you cut it. It also means spring must be just around the corner.
