Are More Street Vendors Setting Up In PQ?
Maybe a better title for this post would be “we sure hope more street vendors set up in PQ” because that’s really what this is about.
On Tuesday morning we happened upon a bed sheet sale at the corner of 12th & F streets NW. We don’t know anything about the quality of these sheets selling for $20 to $25 (400 to 800 thread count) but we love seeing this type of vendor on the streets of PQ. We’d love to see a wider variety of food vendors downtown, better cheap clothes vendors, etc.
We’re not fans of people who unfairly compare NYC to DC, but maybe that’s what we’re about to do right here: The street vendor setups in NYC are fantastic. We’ve picked up some of our favorite ties for $5 at the NYC street vendors. Sure some of the DC hat/bag vendors have ties & pashminas, but the NYC ones are nicer. It pains us to say that, as we love DC, but when it comes to the style and quality of street vendor products, NYC has us beat.
Have any of our readers purchased sheets from these vendors before? What street vendors would you all like to see in PQ?

You can NEVER have enough street vendors selling sheets, incense, counterfeit handbags, or bean pies. Never.
whether you like street vendors or not, they are a sign of economic activity, namely people walking the streets and opening up their wallets. if that’s a positive indicator for downtown, then I like it. not sure that I want it to turn into the same density as NYC street vending but there’s rarely a downside to keeping people working.
I’ve only seen the purse selling stand. selling bedware off a table is new to me.
He was at 12th and C Street SW two weeks ago. Rather odd location behind the Department of Agriculture. Stayed all day long.
Also saw him at the NBC Health and Fitness fair @ the convention center last January/February.
The linens guy set up shop at the northeast corner of Connecticut and L NW this morning, right outside the Farragut North Metro exit.
Good catch Tour Guide & Steve701Penn. I did ask the vendor and he said he had been at the 12th & F location previously (three times, starting around xmas). He also said he sets up at Far. North and Foggy Bottom.
I am from ny and miss a lot of the street vending opportunities there, but the purse & sunglass vendors at Vermont & K street, NW can give you some deals. $30 genuine leather purse large enough for legal files and $5 knock off ray bans and aviators. You can’t go wrong!

That’s not the first time he’s been there. He was there a few times months back. And they’re always “selling out” lol. People buy them like crazy – not sure why, I haven’t checked out the fabric at all.
I think I’ve seen him at Foggy Bottom a few times too.
