It appears that Carmine’s wants to start a summer garden between 11am-2am seven days a week during the summer. Does anyone else think this is too late for an outdoor cafe? Where are they putting this “summer garden”?

Am I misreading this? It appears they want to be able to serve alcohol until 2 a.m. EVERY day. Is that common in the restaurants around here? It sounds like a potential nightmare.

Yes, liquor licenses for the time the restaurant is open is commonplace. 2:00 am is the uncommon thing with Carmines — few restaurants in the town serve food til then.

Comment by FourthandEye on November 1, 2009 @ 11:17 pm

Given Carmine’s is a known entity and the application is a CR-Restaurant license I wouldn’t hit the panic button over the listed 2am hours. It’s very typical that applicants simply apply for the max allowable by ABRA regardless if they plan to be open that late. The Carmine’s in the Theatre District and Upper West Side of Manhattan are open until 11pm weekdays and midnight weekends. The DC location is likely to be the same. But certainly feel free to attend the ANC ABL meeting if you have concerns.

Does anyone know if D’Acqua closed? Walked by this morning and it was completely cleared out.

jpq – I’m no inspector gadget but my assumption is yes.

Any clarification on where the “garden” is going to be located? Seems like 7th is too narrow there for much seating.

Sorry, the comment form is closed at this time.
