Zara…It’s Really Coming
Back in January of this year, Downtown Tim let us know that Zara, the trendy Spanish clothing retailer, is coming downtown to the Woodies Building between 10th and 11th on F Street. Build out of the store continues as the old Woodies building now looks to have four key tenants – H & M (clothes), Zara (clothes), West Elm (home furnishings) and Madame Tassaud’s (entertainment/historical tourism).
As if the big signs aren’t proof enough, we found further confirmation that Zara is on its way. They’re hiring.

I have been to Zara’s and I love it. If I am not mistaken, the store started in Spain and then spread all over Europe. I think the quality of the clothing is comparable to any other chain store out there (which is to say that it’s fine) and I love the style of the clothes. I am happy that they are headed to the neighborhood.
This is anonymous 1:19. I think the cost is pretty reasonable. It is not as cheap as H&M, but probably more reasonable than Macy’s. Although, admittedly, I have not been in Macy’s in quite some time.
I have been to a few Zara stores – there is already one in DC, in Georgetown. I think the clothes and prices are very similar to Benetton/Sisley.
I love Zara, but the costs are soo much cheaper in their European stores. When I visited the Zara in Gtown, I was shocked by the prices. Zara prices in Europe are comparable to H&M prices here. Mango is also great (also Spain based), which I wish they would set that store up in DC. I was happy when one opened in Tysons, but without a car and living in Chinatown is a mission to get to! Bring on the Topshop, too

West Elm has posted on their site that the Woodie’s store will open in August. Can’t wait!!!
