Merzi Opening Soon? (415 7th St NW)
Progress is evident at Merzi, 415 7th Street NW, both online and in person as the external signage is now up in full facing both 7th Street NW and the National Mall. Per the website, Merzi “serves a new take on quick, healthy, flavorful Indian-inspired cuisine” and both a job advert as well as the menu are now taped to the inside of the front glass window. A quick peek through the window revealed work going on over the weekend and interior progress that might portend an opening within a month. What do you think about the impending addition of this fast casual concept to the Penn Quarter?

Looks good, really pleased to see something inexpensive, quick, healthy coming into the neighborhood. Too many expensive, mammoth restaurants.
Agreed. Now if only the neighborhood had a Chop’t/Chipotle/Funxion/Subway/MixtGreens/California Tortilla/Potbelly/Au Bon Pain/Nando’s/second Chop’t/Devon & Blakeley/Urfa Kabob/second Subway/Qdoba/second Potbelly/Pret-a-Manger/Teaism/third Subway/Corner Bakery/second Au Bon Pain/Amorini/Naan and Beyond/third Au Bon Pain/Sushi-Go-Round or something else inexpensive, quick & healthy.
love anonymous’comment and see that they are all self service, but if Teaism is there, what about Vapiano?
LOL, don’t forget the Zola food cart near the museum, and the (not so tasty) Amorini panini. Cheap dining options abound in PQ.
Looks like they’re opening today (12/1) according to an email from Jo-Ann at the PQ Neighborhood Association. Their menu and a helpful “how-to” guide is on their website: http://www.merzi.com.
@KimFromTheK – indeed Meriz is opening today. we were at a preview last night, enjoyed the food and space, and enjoyed meeting the owner who is passionate about the restaurant concept he and his team have brought to life.

The website menu makes it seem like an “Indian” version of Chipotle. Looks delicious, I hope it opens soon.
