A New Washington Landmark
Well a new sign that says so anyway. We reported on the permit back in June for a new sign for Ollie’s Trolley, and recently it went up. We have a neighbor who swears by their burgers, in fact this neighbor has relatives who come into DC from Northern VA several times a month to eat there. We’ve had a few of Ollie’s chili burgers over the years, but had never considered it a destination burger joint. Shows what we know!

Reid – The seasonings Ollies uses on their fries is Tex Joy Worcestershire Steak Seasoning. You can get it online.
Ollies has been around forever. They used to be affiliated with the Lums chain of restaurants, which has long since folded. The chiliburger is alright, but they were really known for their Ollieburger with the Ollie Sauce. Unfortunately, it just doesn’t taste the way they used to make it.
Hmmm, I might have to go on a fact finding mission this week. I’ll report back on the Ollieburger with Ollie Sauce.
Just make sure you get your Ollie Sauce fresh from Ollie. They keep him chained up in back for just this purpose. Don’t be afraid. He won’t bite. Much.
Sorry, the comment form is closed at this time.

It’s not just the burgers, it’s the fries.
Although, I think the “Since 1978” tag is a little misleading. It’s been in the neighborhood since then, but it’s only been at that location since the 90’s (I believe). They even have photos inside of when they were at the corner of 13th and G and had park benches outside.
I’ve always been curious what was in there before Ollies. It clearly was a diner of some sort, although you can see on the awning an old shadow of “The Christian Science Bookstore”, so that must have been there at some point.
