DC Link Roundup: Heard In The ‘Hood
Here’s what we were reading last week about neighborhood news in DC.

Penn Quarter/Downtown – One cherished institution in downtown made Google’s “Top 10 Searches in DC.” OK…technically it’s not an institution but it might as well be because sure as shootin’, you’ll see a good movie if you go there. Can you tell which one we mean? [DCist]
Penn Quarter – Local PQ artist Dana Ellyn interview and preview of “Divinely Irreverent.” [ReadySetDC]
Mount Vernon Triangle – Henry’s Soul Cafe, home of the sweet potato pie, opened at 4th and K Streets NW. Ten years from now, will it become our neighborhood’s Ben’s Chili Bowl? [The (Mount Vernon) Triangle]
Downtown – Video tour of the Franklin School at 13th and K Streets NW. [The Other 35 Percent]
Penn Quarter – There was a carjacking on 7th Street NW and the victim was the daughter of Senator Bob Corker. The perps were found and arrested. [WaPo] & [MSNBC]
14th Street – Cork Market opens at 14th and S Streets, NW (1805 14th St NW). [U Street Girl] and [ReadySetDC 1] & [ReadySetDC 2]
Penn Quarter/Chinatown – Ping Pong Dim Sum is opening in Washington DC at 7th and I (Eye) Streets NW! We understand it will open Friday, December 11 although the sign on the door says Saturday, December 12. If we learn something more certain, we’ll pass it along. [Urban Daddy]
UPDATE (12/8) – Ping Pong Dim Sum will open in DC on Saturday, December 12.

Back when we lived in Kalorama, I used to love walking to Henry’s for sweet potato pie. Can’t wait to try the 4th & K location.
