The Barry Name Remains in the News (Chinatown) – The son of the late Mayor Barry, Christopher, caused a ruckus at the PNC Bank at the corner of 7th and I St NW. The ruckus lead to his arrest on a minor charge. [Washington Post]
Stabbing at MLK Library (Downtown) – A man was stabbed in the MLK Library’s digital commons area on the first floor. [Washington Post]
Franklin School Revitalization Now on Hold (Downtown) – With the turnover in city administrations, a few development projects awarded by the Gray administration have been put on hold by the Bowser administration. One of them is the redevelopment of the Franklin School at 13th and K St NW. [Washington CityPaper]
Equity Eats Leases a Portion of 918 F St for Ongoing Restaurant Pop-ups (Penn Quarter) – Living Social reorganized, downsized, and decamped out of the building on 918 F St which it formerly used in its entirety for Living Social events. Now Equity Eats will be using it to create a space where budding chefs and/or restaurants can pop up their concept to see how well it works. It’s a “movie theater for foodies” per the Washington CityPaper article. (Hat tip: Regular PQ Living reader)
Herman Miller Moving from 14th Street to 900 G St NW (Penn Quarter) – Two tenants announced their intent to occupy the newly constructed building at 9th and G St NW that replaced the former YWCA buildling. Herman Miller, an office furniture retailer, is opening a retail store in the building. [Washington Business Journal]
New Barber Coming to 14th and New York Ave (Downtown)– Upper Cuts signed a lease to place a store in The Bond Building at the corner of 14th and New York Ave NW. [CityBizList]
Minute Clinic Now Open In Penn Ave CVS (Downtown) – CVS sent out flyers in the US mail to local residents that it opened a Minute Clinic at the 1275 Pennsylvania Ave NW store and indeed it now shows up on the CVS Store Locator on their website.
