whole foods h street washington dc opening announcement grocery store

It’s not the closest Whole Foods to Penn Quarter. It’s not the closest grocery store to Penn Quarter as that honor belongs to the CityVista Safeway. But, it is a new Whole Foods at 600 H St NE (6th and H) and it is opening today at 9 am meaning residents have another nearby choice for epoisses cheese, natural health products, and generally good produce. We received our flyer with a few discount coupons as pictured above.

Meet Some of our Local Vendors

Brainfood Homegrown – Brainfood Homegrown is a local food venture where young entrepreneurs are building a snack food business from the ground up. Led by graduates of Brainfood’s DC-based high school cooking and life skills programs, Brainfood Homegrown offers real world job experience, from idea conception and recipe testing to packaging and sales. Whole Foods Market H Street is proud to carry Brainfood Homegrown popcorn.

Oh-Mazing Granola – Stephanie Williams has always believed in preparing “from-scratch” meals for her family. When she created a granola in large clusters that was perfect for snacking on-the-go, it was such a hit with her family that she launched Oh-Mazing! Snackable Granola in 2015.

Atlas Brew Works – Founded in 2013, Atlas Brew Works is dedicated to creating well-balanced craft beers. Their award-winning beers are traditional in style, with special Atlas tweaks. The founders also emphasize sustainability in their operations, from partnering with farmers to recycle spent grains, to employing solar energy at their Ivy City headquarters.

Rise Bakery – Mike Koritko began baking gluten-free bread after being diagnosed with Celiac disease in 2004 and not finding adequate options in DC markets. He’s excited to share with you his allergen-free baked goods that don’t sacrifice taste or texture, all made in small batches with innovative recipes.

Dolcezza – In 2004, Robb and Violeta founded Dolcezza in the Georgetown neighborhood of Washington, DC with a dedication to locally-sourced ingredients. By fusing old-world production methods with modern curiosity, they create gelato that is regarded by many – including SAVEUR, Bon Appétit and the New York Times – to be among the best in the country.
