High Rise Life: Extra! Extra! Read All About It!
In DC, the Washington City Paper has been a local news staple for years as have The Georgetowner and the Northwest Current newspapers. Blogs and local news sites have done a good job of covering hyperlocal news but there is nothing like the rustle of paper in your hands, an easy low tech way to catch up on neighborhood news and distribution to the high rise building where you live.
Enter a joint project between the Downtown Neighborhood Association (DNA) and the Convention Center Community Association (CCCA) for downtown residents called the Downtown Citizen, a newsletter focusing on what’s important to living in the downtown neighborhoods. The first issue, chock full of pictures, is dated October 27 and is 12 pages long; distribution will be to condos and apartment buildings downtown so watch for it in your lobby or download it and print it off at home [PDF 4MB] (it is also available on the DNA homepage (left column))!

It is so nice to see how the DNA has evolved. Before them, downtown residents had no focused representation. The Penn Quarter Neighborhood Association represents businesses, as does the DC Business Improvement District. The DNA has gotten results on several major efforts and I, for one, am grateful to the DNA for making my downtown experience better. Congrats on this great newsletter!
Anon @ 10:27 – Love the Signatures reference. My Tuesday night half price sushi dinners remain among by best memories of the early part of this decade.

Unrelated, but I noticed today that D’Aqua has a sign posted on the door announcing that the restaurant is permanently closed for unforeseen circumstances. All of the tables and furniture have been removed.
