Laissez Bon Temps Rouler
If you’re not planning to fly down to New Orleans for Mardi Gras this year, be sure to check out a neighborhood celebration at Acadiana (901 New York Ave., NW).
Alternatively you could host your own Bacchus Sunday or Fat Tuesday party. A favorite menu from parties we’ve hosted in the past includes:
Grits & Grillades with Poached Eggs and Hollandaise Sauce
French Toast Cupcakes with Maple Frosting and Bacon Crumbles
And, of course, no party would be complete without a king cake. Ask any New Orleans native and there are only two places you can get a king cake, Haydel’s or Randazzo’s.
Throw me some beads!
BicycleSPACE Gets Its Legs In Former Burger King Space (5th and G St NW)
BicycleSPACE, a dedicated bicycle shop that first opened in Mount Vernon Triangle on I St NW, temporarily moved into the shut down Burger King at 5th and G St NW (700 5th St NW) within eyeshot of the Verizon Center. Ultimately, the shop will move back to the Triangle into a retail space at the Lyric Apartments (44o K St NW). Elevation Media posted a tidy piece about the owners and their business.
ANC2C Community Meeting On Mon, Feb 9 – Streetcar, Variable Parking Meter Rates, & 2 New Restaurants
The second Monday of the month means that it’s time for the ANC 2C (Advisory Neighborhood Commission) to meet in the MLK Library on Monday, February 9 at 6:30 pm (Lower level – room A-3).
The agenda typically hints at businesses that plan to open their doors in the near future among other things. Of note, the Fig and Olive is the newbie planning to open in CityCenter in Palmer Alley and a new pizza restaurant, Black Iron Pizza, will open in the 1100 block of E St NW.
