Graffiato’s Industry Takeover Night Turns One Year Old…Bon Appétit!
Graffiato (707 6th St NW) opened in June of 2011 and has settled into the neighborhood nicely. Industry takeover night followed one year ago and has turned into a big favorite of ours hosting chefs from near and far alike. We heard from Graffiato about the one year celebration taking place on Monday, January 6 as follows. We’ll see you there:
To celebrate the one-year anniversary of Industry Takeover Nights, on January 6, Mike Isabella is inviting a few favorites from previous events and opening up Graffiato’s second floor. Top Chef alum Jennifer Carroll (Concrete Blonde) and Angelo Sosa (Poppy Den and Anjeo Tequileria) will be joining local luminaries Victor Albisu (Del Campo and Taco Bamba) and Scott Drewno (The Source). Former Bourbon Steak head toque Adam Sobel (now at RN74) will make a return to D.C. and Andre Mack, owner and winemaker at Mouton Noir Wines, will provide refreshments. With the expanded space comes an expanded party, as Graffiato will keep its doors open until 2 am, and food and drink will be available both at the first floor pizza bar and second floor ham bar. The usual $10 cash-only cover charge will be in place, with Meals on Wheels as the charitable beneficiary.
History on Foot: A Walk through Time
Walking through town recently, I came across a thought-provoking display. Beneath the scaffolding at 13th and Pennsylvania Ave. there is a series of illustrations of the U.S. Presidents and some of their most iconic quotes. I paused to walk the length of the street exhibit and encourage you to do the same if you’re in the area.
Happy 2014 and best wishes for an amazing year!

What’s Red And Green, But Was Once White All Over?
Lincoln’s Waffle Shop (504 10th ST NW) received a facelift last week. Just before Christmas we caught this photo where workers had finished painting all of the trim on the upper floors green, and were just about to start on the ground level. All of the white brick was painted red, all of the trim green.
10th Street keeps looking better & better, now we just need to get a retailer into the old Waffle Shop storefront.
