Seasonal Work
Although it pains us to write this we have to face the facts; summer’s almost gone. Fall is a great season in DC, but we wouldn’t mind the warm weather holding on for just a little while longer. But you can already see the changes, cooler weather, shorter days (the dark mornings make it so much harder to wake up early). Soon vendors like the above will have to switch to another job as tourists are no longer riding on the open top of the double decker busses.
Help us feel better about the changing of the seasons, tell us what you’re looking forward to in DC this fall.
DC Link Roundup: Heard In The ‘Hood
Here’s what we were reading last week about neighborhood news in DC. Follow PQ Living via Facebook here and Twitter here.
All Over DC – Transfer taxes will apply to co-op apartment sales beginning October 1. [DC Metro Urban Diary]
Penn Quarter – A review of Michel Richard’s restaurant Central on Pennsylvania Avenue. [Capital Spice]
Mount Vernon Square – Heart of DC picnic is this upcoming Saturday. Meet your downtown neighbors! [The (Mount Vernon) Triangle]
Dupont Circle – One ghost bike memorial disappears and twenty-two reappear thereafter. [Greater Greater Washington]
Downtown – A farmer’s market will start up near the White House on Vermont Avenue. It’s also on Thursday so will it dilute the PQ farmer’s market? [Capital Spice]
H Street NE – Want an ongoing discount at a to-be-opened pie shop? [Frozen Tropics]
Restaurant Bibiana Now Open
The space formerly occupied by Luigino (1100 NY Ave, at the corner of 12th & H) opened last week as Bibiana. We have higher hopes for the spot this time as it is in the same family of restaurants as Rasika, 701, Bombay Club, etc. The restaurant’s website doesn’t have a menu (or any other info) up yet, and our photo of the menu didn’t turn out too well.
We plan to try Bibiana soon but wonder if any of our readers beat us to it? If so let us know what you thought.
Justice Sotomayor Spotted In Chinatown
WaPo’s ever reliable Reliable Source reported that newly appointed Supreme Court Justice Sonia Sotomayor was spotted in Chinatown. Based on a past Fedspotting sighting sent in to PQ Living and occasionally witnessing the black SUV driving and ear piece toting MIBs outside a popular PQ restaurant, Chinatown/the PQ may become a popular spot for SCOTUS Justices given its proximity to the Court.
Hey, Isn’t That…? [WaPo – Reliable Source]
