The National Museum of Women in the Arts (NMWA) (1250 New York Ave NW) is temporarily closed for a major renovation but that isn’t stopping it from displaying art. Starting March 25 and just in time for spring, the museum will unveil a large-scale mural by MISS CHELOVE for the building’s facade. If you’ve walked around DC’s neighborhoods you’ve undoubtedly seen her amazing work gracing the exterior walls of many DC public spaces. You can find more details in NMWA’s press release.

Penn Quarter CVS In Lansburgh Building Closing This Month (435 8th St NW)
We sadly have to let our readers know that the CVS in the Lansburgh building at 435 8th St NW will have its last day of operation on Saturday, November 27. We learned this by talking to in store employees. The pharmacy section closed this last weekend. If there’s one retail business that’s been a constant through thick and thin it’s been this CVS. During snowstorms, the pandemic, or when we were sick it was a lifesaver when it came to getting regular items like milk, OJ, eggs, yogurt, soda, ice cream, cold medicine, toilet paper (except perhaps during the pandemic), and stamps. We never had a bad trip there and got to know many of the employees on a first name basis since 2005. The three closest CVS stores once this store closes are at 1275 Pennsylvania Ave NW, 400 Massachusetts Ave NW, and 717 14th St NW.
Landmark’s E Street Theatre Reopens Today (E St NW between 10th and 11th St NW)
We’re delighted that the E Street Theatre (555 11th St NW – entrance on E St NW between 10th and 11th St NW) reopens today to a full slate of movies. The movie listings can be found here.
Smashburger Open In Penn Quarter/Chinatown (804 7th St NW)
Smashburger (804 7th St NW) opened a Penn Quarter Chinatown location in late July to an eager crowd seeking delicious eats. The Colorado based burger chain has hamburger, chicken, and vegetarian options along with shakes and fries. They also offer a breakfast menu as seen below and a loyalty program called the Smashclub. Their hours are daily from 8:30 am to 10 pm.
