Penn Quarter Neighborhood Association Meeting On 2013 Inauguration Preparations
From the Penn Quarter Neighborhood Association, we learned about an informational neighborhood meeting this Friday, December 21 at 11 am to brief attendees about how the Secret Service and MPD prepare the neighborhood for the January 2013 inauguration. PQ Living covered the inauguration four years ago and there is notable reconfiguration to the neighborhood to accommodate inauguration activities.
RSVP to joann[at]PennQuarter.org by tomorrow at Noon to attend the meeting. Details follow in the e-mail text below:

@sb – I remember they put up the “giraffe fences” on the numbered streets to keep people from entering the secure area before it was time. all the trash cans were temporarily removed too. we’ll see what is in store this time!
Have a friend who’s heading up radio communication on Inauguration Day who says the best time to get down there is at 7am. They’re going to do a “sweep” the night before clearing trashcans & mailboxes along the route, and another at 4am, clearing the area of all people/homeless/random stuff. Bundle up folks!
