Pidzza Announces Presence On 6th St (740 6th St NW)
We passed by the new mixed-use development at 740 6th St NW and saw a sign up that advertises “pidzza” is coming soon. It looks like a pizza chain from an outfit called Pidzza which according to their website is “a new take on America’s favorite food. Our mission is to serve up delicious, gourmet pizza with a Turkish flare.”
We always welcome new small businesses to the neighborhood and hope they are successful. That said, we find the news of more pizza a little bit of a letdown. While we don’t have many good, cheap meals in the area, we do have plenty of pizza–Wiseguy, Matchbox, &pizza, zpizza, etc. What we’ve been noticing recently is that we don’t have much that isn’t food (or clothing by Metro Center). On 14th Street, for example, there are lots of furniture and tchotchke stores. We wish we had some of that instead of more pizza.

I’m with you on the variety of stores. I recently took a trip to Tokyo, and was blown away the variety of stores in most neighborhood (of course some specialized, but still had a variety). I was very jealous.
