Raise Your Glass
On hot July days, it doesn’t take much convincing to raise a glass of something cold and refreshing, but here are just a few unique things to toast this month when you raise your next glass.
One year ago, The Rickey was named the official drink of D.C. and July became Rickey Month in the District. DC’s Craft Bartenders Guild is hosting a Rickey Month competition with 35 participating bartenders and a party on August 5. Click here for more details and to print your Rickey passport.
Following are the participating bars and restaurants in our neighborhood and their competition Rickey to order.

Poste Moderne Brasserie (555 8th St. NW) celebrates its 10th anniversary with a free glass of sparkling wine (with the purchase of an entrée) for anyone who wishes them a “Happy Birthday.”
Ernest Hemingway’s 113th Birthday (July 21) and National Daiquiri Day (July 19) can be celebrated at Cuba Libre (801 9th St. NW) throughout July with food and drink specials, including $5 Papa Dobles (the Hemingway Daiquiri), during happy hour.
Now, I’ll drink to that!
