Romantic Downtown Rides
You’ve probably seen them around town, horse drawn carriages for those in the mood for a romantic ride around DC. But would you know where to pick one up? They seem to be more prevalent in early Winter when the Xmas trees are up at the Capitol and White House, but there are also some now in the middle of tourist season.
But this blogger has never seen a store front that sells rides, or a stop where the horses sit. In NY’s Central Park it’s easy to find the carriage stops, but in DC this blogger is lost. Presumably you pick them up and pay for a ride at one of the local hotels, right? A quick Google search only gave me sites about how romantic it would be, a few phone numbers (which I’ve not called) and a website (http://www.carriagesofthecapitol.com/) which no longer works.
So how about it, have any of you even ridden in one of these carriages in DC? Is it easy & obvious, and this blogger just doesn’t know where to look?

I took my wife on a carriage ride a few years ago. We met at the Hyatt on New Jersey Avenue up by the Capital. The ride was comfy and romantice, though I would have liked it to have lasted longer. For those who care (we all should!), the horse looked like it was treated well and we offered our thanks to the horse, too, for a nice ride
