Smoothie King Opens In Gallery Place ‘Yard *UPDATED*
UPDATE (August 12): Smoothie King management indicates this location is planning to officially open on September 1, 2009. It is not currently open for regular business.
A Smoothie King (703 7th St, NW) is now open in the vendor hut closest to the Gallery Place entrance in the red brick courtyard between Clyde’s and the Verizon Center. We checked it out yesterday and the smoothies were indeed smooth and fresh. They were still training a few of the folks behind the three blender counter so there was a wait but we did end up with the product as advertised. They also offer a Frequent Buyer Card to lower your overall cost of purchases and add to your other frequent PQ buyer vendor cards. Not all the vendor huts appear to be leased out yet but this business makes sense in our book. What could go in the other vendor huts?

Whew! That’s a relief! I’d be pretty annoyed if they were rough and stale, not unlike the sandwiches at Quiznos.
YAY! It’s not Jamba Juice, but it’s better than nothing. I loved Smoothie King when I lived in NYC (which also had a dearth of Jamba Juice.)
In other PQ news, I read the WBJ Top Shelf column today and they confirmed that Carmine’s is opening a 20,000 square foot restaurant at 425 7th Street (the Balducci’s space) in February of 2010.
A peek inside Rita’s front door will leave you discouraged. It looks to me like they’ll be missing out on prime water ice-buying season for sure.
Anyone walked by the allegedly soon to open Birch and Barley (from the restaurant group that brought you Rustico) in Logan Circle lately? I’m anticipating that opening more than Kushi, which is to say a lot.
Does anyone have the hours for SmoothieKing? I went by at around 8 this morning and they weren’t open yet. I love the almond/mocha protein shake for breakfast!
I agree. I went at 8:00 PM and they were closed. So I walked to Gifford’s. Not walking all the way to smoothie king again until I know they will be open.
we [PQ Living] will see if we can get in touch with Smoothie King management to learn more about the status of this shop. the shop shows up on the Smoothie King website but still says “Coming Soon.”
Smoothie King management did get in touch with us. this location is officially supposed to open on September 1, 2009. it is not currently open…we purchased our smoothie during a trial run, as it turns out.
Sorry, the comment form is closed at this time.
According to the Washington Business Journal, the owner of Crepes a go go is planning to open up shop there in the next month or so.
