The Most Important Ford’s Upgrade
You may not know it, but Friday was an important day for Ford’s Theatre patrons. The deliveries being made in the photo to the left should be a welcome relief to the derriere of anyone who ever sat in the theatre before renovations began.
The boxes (which are labeled Irwin Seating Company) we’re assuming (hoping, praying) contain seats which are significantly more comfortable than the old wooden Ford’s seats. Of the upgrades being made to Ford’s, this surely will be the most satisfying of them all.

Yes, more comfortable seats are part of the Ford’s upgrade. Unfortunately, the new seats take up MUCH more space so the seating capacity of the theater has been reduced also.
Complain as you may, the previous seats were much wider than the seats back in 1865. In fact, back then the chairs were not even attached to the floor. Up in the family circle (now the lighting level) the seats were bleacher style. Cram more people in and make more money!
