We visited The Partisan (709 D St NW) last night for their pre-opening evening event and it looks to be a fantastic new addition to Penn Quarter. The decor, food, and drinks were all fantastic, and both staff and management were warm and welcoming. If you’ve been to the Red Apron during the day, you are in for a treat as the bar area with exposed brick in the back is like none other in Penn Quarter/downtown DC. The Partisan seems to be described as a “meat focused restaurant” which makes sense given the association with the Red Apron Butcher side of the venue that recently opened. The bar opens this afternoon at 4 pm with dinner service to start at 5 pm. We posted a few links below including references to stories with both the dinner menu and the beer list. (The Savuto red wine blend from Odoardi was solid too. We appreciated that they will have temperature controlled wine by the glass.) We’ll return soon for a more in-depth experience but for now this is one promising place to visit.
