Posted by gpliving
July 15, 2009

It’s great to see that the Newseum will be hosting a press conference of historic significance.   Here are the details of the Thursday, July 16th event: NASA will hold a media briefing at 11 a.m. EDT on Thursday, July 16, at the Newseum in Washington to release greatly improved video imagery from the July 1969 [...]

The Nut Bar, 10 Months Later

Posted by Columbo
July 15, 2009

Just over 10 months ago the 5th street Safeway opened to much fanfare, including numerous mentions on this blog.  It was an exciting time for all of us; no longer would downtown residents have to rely on CVS for day to day groceries. But one of the premier sections of the 5th street Safeway, the [...]

Jonas Brothers Come To PQ

Posted by gpliving
July 14, 2009

With the Verizon Center schedule in its usual summer drought, we already take greater notice when an event is actually happening at the entertainment complex. However, we’ve never experienced lines of fans up and down 7th street waiting to get into the Verizon Center. The Jonas Brothers’ show certainly packed the streets as well as [...]

A big PQ Living thank you goes out to Chris who sent in these excellent photos of the July 4 fireworks on the National Mall. Beautiful colors! We’re going to consider them the Photos (plural!) of the Week. Tomorrow, you’ll be able to find them on PQ Living’s Facebook page too!

W Hotel Debuts Today

Posted by Columbo
July 8, 2009

An anonymous reader sent in this photo of a worker cleaning the windows at the newly remodeled W Hotel (515 15th street NW).  The hotel is set to open today after more than a year of renovations. The roof deck of the hotel (always popular when it was the Hotel Washington) will be open from 5 pm to 2 [...]

The Next Version Of PQ Living

Posted by pqresident
July 7, 2009

Every once in a while, the three people who bring you PQ Living like to take a look at what’s taking place on the ‘Net, what’s taking place in the neighborhood and ask the question, “Do we at PQ Living need to be doing something different than what we’re doing now?” That’s what this missive is [...]

Capitol Hill – Don’t know how we missed this one last week but we did. Eastern Market reopened after restoration following the fire that took it out out of service for quite a while. [The Hill Is Home] Southwest – Arena Stage construction is taking on an outline. [SWDC Blog] Between Park View and Petworth [...]

Potenza Adds Outdoor Seating

Posted by Columbo
July 5, 2009

We’re not sure how long outdoor seating has been available at Potenza (15th & H streets NW), so we apologize if this is old news.  Earlier this week we snapped the above photo showing the restaurant’s 15th street outside seating.  That’s quite a view you get while dining alfresco.

MT Honors MJ

Posted by Columbo
July 5, 2009

Walking up 10th street on Friday we noticed that Madame Tussauds had set up a table outside with a sign and guestbook in honor of Michael Jackson.  At first we thought this was only a cheesy way to get people interested in visiting the wax museum; but a closer look revealed numerous entries in the guestbook (with fans waiting [...]
