The Chinese New Year was actually January 29, but DC’s Chinatown celebrated it yesterday. Check out the pictures!
As you can see Vincent Orange blew his wad for the 2006 mayoral campaign by placing his campaign office in every picture of the New Year’s celebration.
The crane lifted a firecracker out of the trash can up to about 5 stories high. The firecracker looked like a red streamer and when it was lit, little pockets of firecracker would explode in order, kind of like dominos. It seems like the domino effect was designed to follow the streamer up to the top of the crane, but after 2 or 3 re-lightings, the firecracker fizzled and popped on the pavement. Maybe next year!
