The CVS at 400 Mass is now open 24 hours. I wondered if that was a sign the Chinatown location would be closing, and sure enough, I come to this blog and the answer is already here. I say good riddance to the dump at 7th and H. I only hope the 400 Mass location doesn’t become like the old one.
I too hope the ghettoness of the old one doesn’t travel down the street. Supposedly 400 Mass management was in touch with CVS to make sure the problems with the old location don’t make there way down the street. I honestly think its a bit too far away from 7th and H to really bring a significant amount of extra foot traffic of bumbs and the like.
I suppose I shouldn’t be, but I am surprised that CVS didn’t even bother to send me a letter explaining what they would do with prescriptions that I have at the 7th and H store. The people at CVS HQ seem to have just plain forgotten about this store’s existence.
And I think in response to the 7th and H closure, the CVS at 8th and E has also extended it hours from 6am to midnight on weekdays and its weekend hours are longer too (not sure what they are exactly though.)
I don’t think another CVS store in that location was a given. As I understood it, the owner of the property was looking to get rid of them and replace them with something else.
#9: That is correct. It looks like the owner decided to work a compromise to get CVS to agree to leave immediately. If the eviction lawsuit would have played out, it is likely that a different retail outfit would occupy that space in 2010.
It would be interesting to know if CVS will get a new 15 year lease when they return in 2010, or if it would be a shorter time frame. My bet is on another 15 years.
