Lost of links to share this week as we’re catching up from missing a week. Here’s what we were reading recently about neighborhood news in DC. Have neighborhood thoughts? Leave them in the comments!
Capitol Hill – The Mayor and a number of Councilmembers get arrested in an act of civil disobedience protesting DC’s treatment by the recent Federal government budget agreement. [WaPo] & [NBC Washington]
Penn Quarter – The group that owns Carmine’s on 7th Street is hunting for a location for Virgil’s Real Barbecue and it may be Penn Quarter. [Linda Roth PR] Hat tip: PQ Living reader Cheryl
Mount Vernon Triangle – Neighbors weigh in on wanting more edibles at the newly opened Liberty North Community market. [The Triangle]
14th Street NW – We always like reading anything that has the suffix “palooza” in it. In this case, it’s about development on 14th Street. [14th and You]
Dupont – Look up from the street…it’s a museum! It’s a hotel! It’s a conference center! A nice write up on one of the city’s hidden gems, The Mansion on O. [City Stream DC]
All Over DC – DC’s Fire Department is being rebranded. DCFD is out and FEMS is (are?) in. Not to state the obvious, but did anyone ask the front line firefighters what they thought? [WaPo]
H Street NE – Jazz club HR-57 makes the move from 14th Street NW to 816 H Street NE. It’s just a short X2 bop away. [Frozen Tropics] & [HR-57 website]
