New Food Option Coming To 6th & I St NW
Penn Quarter has no shortage of dining spots. And, of those dining spots, there are a few nice delis, such as 1791 Gourmet Deli located at 701 8th St NW. But, how do our delis compare to the traditional New York or Chicago delis? We shall find out soon!
Starting on Friday, May 20th, Penn Quarter residents will find a food truck, named Sixth & Rye, parked outside of the 6th & I synagogue dishing out freshly prepared deli sandwiches and sides. This will be an ongoing Friday-only offering which will surely attract a long line of customers. The initiative is being headed up by Chef Spike Mendelsohn, owner of Good Stuff Eatery in Capitol Hill.
While this news is definitely exciting, we can’t help but note that most neighborhood delis continue to function during weekday lunch-times only. Where can a Penn Quarter resident go to get a great deli sandwich on a Saturday afternoon?
