Here’s what we were reading recently about neighborhood news in DC. Have something to add? Leave it in the comments!
Penn Quarter – Restaurants have lined E St NW across the street from the FBI building as long as we can remember. Before there was McDonald’s, Wendy’s (RIP), and Asia Nine, there was Hammel’s. [Streets of Washington]
Mount Vernon Triangle – The 600 block of New York Ave NW looks like it’s going to be razed in the near future. [The Triangle 1] & [The Triangle 2]
Penn Quarter – The final price for the 915 F St NW Platinum club transaction to Douglas Development? $5 million. It would make a pretty fantastic restaurant although it could use a few more windows. [Washington Business Journal]
Shaw – Kelsey Gardens on 7th St NW gets raze permits and the impending heave-ho. [Renew Shaw]
Penn Quarter – That fall time of year will be here before you know it and that means it’s time for the Arts on Foot on September 10th and 11th. [Arts on Foot]
National Mall – The MLK Memorial will open to the public on August 22 (that’s today!). The official dedication will take place on August 28. [Dedicate The Dream]
Penn Quarter – Hill Country announces their BBQ delivery zones both downtown and up towards U Street/Logan Circle (see second page). [Hill Country [PDF]]
All Over DC – There’s $167K left in the DC Government’s Energy Star Appliance Rebate program for DC residents who replace their old appliances with energy efficient appliances. Think of it as a Cash for Clunkers program but the clunker is your old dishwasher/refrigerator/other appliance eligible in the program instead of that old ride. [DC Dept of the Environment]
All Over DC – We like the bike lines downtown and mid-city, and use them all the time. This story paints a number of sides to that picture. [Washington CityPaper]
