Newseum Rolls Out The Red Carpet!
This blogger noticed that on Friday night, the Newseum had a red carpet event. A red carpet was rolled out and a giant screen was visible all the way from Constitution avenue just showing people checking in for the event.
We noted last year, that the opening of the Newseum was delayed until the first quarter of 2008. Seeing as how the sidewalk has been cleared of all construction fences, as well as the presence of a red carpet event, we anticipate that the Newseum will be opening to the public very soon!
We still haven’t spotted the location of the digital displays from newspapers around the world.

I don’t know what it was for this weekend, but a week or two back they had the party for Meet the Press turning 50 at the Newseum.
FWIW, the website still doesn’t have price or ticket information available. The open date is simply listed as 2008 — so three weeks at the earliest.
It is still some months away before the Newseum is ready to open to the public. Some events, scheduled when an earlier opening date was anticipated, can still take place in portions of the museum, but it will be a few months before completion for a public opening. And it should be a very exciting museum to visit. We are looking forward to having a breakfast meeting there when it is ready or near ready!!
I have Newseum staff contacts and what I’ve heard is that they are hoping to open sometime in February.

Walking home from a friends house on Capitol Hill Saturday night, I noticed a large black-tie event was going on at the Newseum (10:30 or 11 pm). It looked like quite the event!
