New 6th St Development News (705-707 6th St NW)
We were first tipped off to a new development on the 700 block of 6th St NW a few weeks ago when the Historic Preservation Review Board declared “no jurisdiction” over an application with the 705-707 6th St address. This site is between the Cosmopolitan Condominium and the Myrene Condominium buildings and consists of a fenced-in, empty lot and the Wilson Epes Printing Co building.
Just a few days ago, we noticed that a Maizel Construction company banner went up on the fenced off lot and printing firm building. No plans are listed on their website for this location and we haven’t seen any DCRA permits come out yet. Both addresses are owned by Douglas Development – 705 6th was purchased in 2005 and 707 6th in 2007.

Does this mean likely window obstruction for an entire side of the cosmopolitan or do they have rights to a space between the buildings? Does anyone know?
does anyone know what happened to the bar/club R&R on 6th Street? It seems a lot quieter lately in the ‘hood. Has it been shut down?
Jessica, R&R is closed. The owners sold the bar/club and the new owners are going to reopen it as “Muse,” an upscale jazz/salsa/electric
restaurant and lounge. I’m not sure what the time frame is, but they’re reconfiguring it.
Sorry, the comment form is closed at this time.
That’s interesting because the owners of the Wilson Epes Printing Co building refused to sell to JBG when they were aquiring land to bill the Cosmopolitan.
