Somebody said that there was a worldwide financial crisis, & that projects like this one might not get built. I don’t believe it, but then I stopped reading the financial papers back in 2004. Why bother? I just cash my dividend checks from GM, Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac, Lehman Bros, Washington Mutual, & AIG.
Sigh. I guess it is inevitable. I really like the space the way it is. More condos and tourist crap…yeaaaa. Not.
Parking lots are people, too. An open space with some grass & some non-impervious pavement with “come as you are” art spaces would be the highest & best utilization.
Dividends are a man’s best friend; diamonds are a dreary end.
Give me stock that doubles & record profits; bail me out when I forfend
A run on my bank, or in my stocking,
A plague on my house, or in my bollixing,
It’s all one fate; nevermind the gawking.

According to Cary Silverman’s blog the groundbreaking has unfortunately been pushed back yet again to June 2009.

I really hope that’s not true. We’ve waited long enough. This project (and the Yards) needs to be built ASAP.
