New Shuttle Service: Gallery Place To H Street NE – Free!
Yesterday, Councilmember Wells and DDOT announced that a new shuttle service that will operate between the Gallery Place Metro (7th & H St NW) and the Minnesota Ave Metro! It will have a limited number of stops along H St NE and will only run from 5pm until normal metro closing hours. This service is should prove popular with the bar and restaurant patrons that live in northwest.
Before this service was announced, the only public transportation option from Penn Quarter to H St NE was the X2 bus. Not only is riding the X2 a whole evening of fun wrapped up into a short bus ride, it also does not have the most reliable schedule.
The new shuttle service is being offered for free and will run on a 30 minute headway schedule.

It’s a great way to get people from PQ to H Street — anything that can avoid the dreaded X2 is a welcome (and safe) change. Palace of Wonders — here I come!
@Jon – yeah, PoW is a great time. I may still take X2 just because the headways are so much shorter and it stops less than a block from my condo. Probably X2 on the way out and the shuttle on the way home. It’s good to have options – although I think it should cost a $1 rather than be free.

@Andy – it’s Taylor Gourmet Deli (1116 H St NE). They offer a variety Cold Cut and Chicken Cutlet sandwiches named after Philadelphia streets and landmarks. My visit there was a little lackluster but primarily because the crowds were too much in the first two weeks leading my order to be fulfilled slowly (and just botched too). But the food is good.
I loved Taylor Gourmet — and they deliver to PQ! They bring the bread in every day from a bakery in Philly, and the sandwiches are really creative and good. Not expensive — an easy party with a phone call.
Sorry, the comment form is closed at this time.
I’m concerned that it will bring even more congestion to the corner of 7th & H Steet.
