Two Film Festivals: Best Of DC Shorts/Our City
Are you a film buff? Love DC? Look no further than next weekend as there are two film festivals taking place, the Best of DC Shorts and Our City. Here are the details:
Best of DC Shorts Film Festival…February 6 and 7
The best films from the 2008 DC Shorts Film Festival will be shown February 6 and 7, 2009 at the United States Navy Memorial (701 Pennsylvania Ave NW) in Washington, DC. This Best of the Fest showing has something for everyone – including comedies, documentaries, dramas, animations and films by local and foreign filmmakers.
The 2008 DC Shorts Film Festival was held this past September and the winners were chosen by peer filmmakers, audience members and the DC Shorts Film Festival director. Many of these films have gone on to play numerous festivals, theaters and television broadcasts around the globe.
WHEN: Friday, February 6 and Saturday, February 7, 2009 – 7 – 10 pm (includes an intermission)

Best of DC Shorts and Our City Film Festival Celebration…February 7
WHEN: Saturday, February 7, 2009 – 10:00 pm – Closing

TICKETS: Admission is free with a ticket from the Best of DC Shorts Saturday screening or a ticket from the Our City Film Festival.

Annual Our City Film Festival…February 8
The Our City Film Festival, which will be held at Busboys and Poets (2021 14 Street NW) from 11 am to 7 pm, will present nine films – documentaries and narratives, features and shorts – that are set in or focus on Washington-area communities and examine the Washington area’s rich local history, culture and personalities. The nine films were selected from among several dozen entries by a panel of festival judges.
WHEN: Sunday, February 8, 2009 – 11 am to 7 pm
