Future Vapiano Restaurant In The News (623 H St NW)
An article on Franchise Wire talks about the first three US versions of Vapiano – an Italian restaurant based in Germany. These first locations are all in the DC area: Ballston, 18th & M, and 623 H St.
From the article, here are the opening dates of the three restaurants:
This restaurant is interesting because pastas are to be made fresh, on-site. Also, we’re curious to see if the ordering & paying procedures will mirror those of the Germany-based restaurants.

The review talks about it being here in Frankfurt, where I am, but I don’t think it’s that popular b/c I know the exact address he listed and I’ve never heard of it!
Not sure what you also mean by “the German way”, unless you mean the european way how waiters only come to your table when called over and don’t rush you out the door as soon as your meal is over.
Not looking forward to going back to US service.
Betty: In Otavio’s review of the restaurant in Germany:
When you walk in the door, you get a card that you then take to each station to record how much and what you have purchased. You have a Salad line, a Pasta line, and a Pizza line. [etc]
This is from Linda Roth’s PR wire, Linda is the PR for Vapiano. While it pertains to the Ballston opening on the 26th, it’s nice to hear the words late nite and lounge.

I have not actually been to the restaurant chain before but at least it’s not more Mexican, Spanish or over-priced tapas. Looking forward to trying it out!

Thanks for that article, it makes Vapiano sounds a lot better than I was expecting.
