DC Link Roundup: Heard In The ‘Hood
Columbia Heights – The shooter who cracked off a round or two in broad daylight on 14th Street in CH last week interns in Jim Graham’s (Councilmember for Ward 1) office? Welcome to the Twilight Zone. [The Heights Life] & [U Street Girl] & [Prince of Petworth] & [WaPo] & [Jim Graham – Ward One]
Southwest – They’re up in arms over the thought of losing TIF (Tax Increment Financing) money to subsidizing financing for the Convention Center Hotel project. Even in this economy, we can’t imagine that the real estate finance world lacks private sector participants who wouldn’t want a piece of a convention hotel, downtown, in one of the more recession proof part of the USA and alongside public money and one or two other finance partners. Such a deal looks to be close to completion and if it closes, then the rest of the city will get its needed sprinklings of fiscal love from the Wilson Building. Cross your fingers! [SWDC Blog]
Shaw – The Long View Gallery puts up a banner pinpointing its new, to be opened digs further south on 9th Street, NW. [RenewShaw]
Columbia Heights (again) – Highland Park apartments above the CH Metro to get a new bar. [New Columbia Heights]
Arlington – We normally don’t venture outside D.C.’s city limits for Heard In The ‘Hood but we couldn’t resist pointing out this video that lampoons life in Arlington along the Orange Line corridor. [YouTube]
