12/11/2009 Update: An anonymous reader tells us that the new shop will be from the same people who own this Chevy Chase frozen yogurt store. A self serve yogurt shop that charges by weight. We had frozen yogurt from a similar store in Sacramento, CA earlier this year. It was good, lots of fun toppings to choose from. The store is expected to open in four weeks. Thanks Anon!
1006 F st NW has been being remodeled since early October. We’ve wondered what was going to come of this spot as there is a sign for Adamstein & Demetriou Architects in the window. On Monday we caught the above sign taped to the front door which reads:
FrozenYo Interviews Will Continue Wednesday 9 am – 1 pm.
FrozenYo? We instantly though of Frozen Yogurt and ran several internet searches. None of them produced reliable results for any chain or business by that name. A search of the DC corporate database however did get a hit on FrozenYo LLC which was registered as a DC LLC on 10/0/2009. DC doesn’t make any of the LLC filings available online though, so we were unable to dig any deeper than the name and registered agent.
A search of the DC permits database for that property shows a record for a permit filed 11/13/2009. The updates associated with this property online appear to back up that this would be some type of food service establishment.
That’s all we know. Anyone have any inside information on FrozenYo? Is our guess of another PQ frozen yogurt restaurant correct?

And according to Prince of Petworth – there is now a Crepes kiosk at Gallery Place. Life just doesn’t get any better!!!

Oh, I love how Doug Jemal deliberates for years to fill his properties with just the right mix of tenants… like another souvenir shop and frozen yogurt place. I suppose some slack could be cut in this case since he actually had planned to raze these buildings for a larger project until presumably the credit crisis put the kibosh on that. Looks like he has his sights set a bit lower now with the Union Hardware place on D.
Perhaps most surprising is that A&D would deign to do a fro-yo shop. When our condo association asked them to bid on the renovation of our common areas, they said their minimum project was $1 million. That’s a lotta yogurt!
We were walking by last night and ran into the owner. He said they are planning to open in about 4 weeks. It will be self-serve with pricing by the ounce. He has another location in Chevy Chase: http://froyodc.com/about

There is now an electrical permit up and the owner name is listed as “Frozen Yogurt USA Inc”. Owner address is 702 H st NW. Looks like this old Dc SAMs space will be a frozen yogurt shop afterall.
