GPLiving ran across this fun WaPo factoid: The FBI recently inked a deal for almost 54,000 square feet at 616 H St. NW. This deal consititues about 25% of the building’s space.
616 H St already houses the District of Columbia Courts & other U.S. Government offices.

I learned something interesting recently, which is a great benefit of having the FBI office as a neighbor. The FBI has an 80-member uniformed security force to handle the security of their buildings in the neighborhood (several locations spread around our neighborhood). Under an arrangement with the Metropolitan Police, the members of the FBI force can now do many of the duties of the Metropolitan police – such as make arrests and help out local citizens (essentially, they have been deputized). However, they are not responsible for patrolling. So, we will have more security presence in the neighborhood, and they have the authority to help out. On one occasion late at nightI was looking for a police officer and an FBI security officer came by and offered to help – and he was incredibly effective. I am sure they will appreciate any welcoming remarks from local residents.
