DC ranked in the Top 10 (at a respectable #7) of cities with the most walkable neighborhoods. This from Walk Score (Front Seat) a walkability site that calculated the pedestrian friendly cities ranking.
The top three DC neighborhoods for walkers were Dupont, Logan, and Downtown. Walk Score also has information on what makes a city walkable, as well as a comparison of the top 3 and bottom 3 walkable cities.

Any list that has Los Angeles as the #9 most walkable city in the U.S. takes away from the accomplishment of having been named #7!
