Artisan Condo On NBR
Anon 2/15 9:24 pm points out a news segment on Nightly Business Report that is about The Artisan condo on E Street. You’ll need to scroll ahead to the 7:30 minute mark to catch the start of the segment. The thrust of the story is that vacant properties for sale (versus occupied properties for sale) is a housing indicator worth watching as the number is ramping up. This article at Calculated Risk references a Wall Street Journal article on the matter. Thanks to Anon for the link.

columbo: welcome to the neighborhood!
Any info. on when the Thai place and McD’s is opening over there?
Columbo: congrats! The Artisan’s a beautiful building, and I agree that this downturn is much more a problem for investors than residents. Especially residents who plan on staying a while.
My condo probably hasn’t appreciated at all since I bought it in August 2005 (the literal peak of the US housing market this cycle), but I didn’t buy it make money, I bought it to live in. I realize I’m probably in the minority on this one, but I’ve never regretted my purchase or worried about my home’s value for a second. Can other, more investment-oriented buyers say the same?
It is so very nice to hear that people are purchasing units with the intention of living in them! You all provide stability in the housing market and in DC neighbourhoods. Thanks! I will be joining you city dwellers shortly.
Yep, me too – I definitely bought (almost exactly a year ago!) because I wanted to LIVE here. I developed a huge crush on the Penn Quarter area a couple of years ago and set my sights on finding a place to live here. I’m not going anywhere anytime soon!
Has anyone seem both the Artisan and Clara Barton. Other than the 2 year difference, how do these 2 condos compare to each other?
Sorry, the comment form is closed at this time.
We just had our walkthrough in the Artisan to purchase our unit this morning. The unit looks amazing.
If you’re looking for a quick buck the way things were a few years ago, obviously getting stuck with a high price condo is tough. But if you’re like my girlfriend and I, this isn’t a quick investment for us; this is our home. Of course there is also a big quality of living consideration for us as well.
At any rate, we’re very excited. Lots of light and a balcony, can’t wait.
