Calumet Photo (aka Penn Camera) Shutters Doors…Interesting Memo To Customers On Front Door

Calumet Photo (840 E St NW), formerly known as Penn Camera, closed its doors unexpectedly on Thursday, March 13 when the company declared it is filing for Chapter 7 bankruptcy. The website is dark, the Facebook page is gone, but the phone still rings and the voice mail picks up identifying Calumet. This location was previously a Penn Camera which had relocated from the 900 block of E Street NW when The Artisan condo was developed in 2005/2006.
We checked out the E Street location and found two signs posted with the typical corporate language you’d see for a closing event like this one. We also found one notice providing a name and e-mail contact for those customers who want to try to get their property back (photos and/or gear). See the last photo below for the full text of the memo and the contact information.

Hello,
I have been getting many emails from customers and I have responded to them all if they were pertaining to customer property. There is still almost no information from the Trustee. I still want to do right by my customers and help in returning their items. If you have not reached out to me already, please do. As soon as the Trustee allows me or someone else to return things, I will notify the people who have emailed me. Thanks again everyone for your patience, hopefully we will talk soon.

I tried tapping on the glass, but Jeff’s email link didn’t work. I assume it’s a problem with the HTML in his memo.
