We’ve visited many of the residential buildings in the Penn Quarter for our Cribs posts but we’ve yet to make our way down to The Jefferson at Penn Quarter development which houses both the Lafayette (631 D Street NW) and the Clara Barton (616 E Street NW) condos. Originally conceived as a single rental property, JPI (the developer) sold the building in two phases, each phase having its own condo association within the complex.
Today’s spotlight is on one of the three level plus roofdeck units in the Lafayette housing three bedrooms and three and a half bathrooms. These units feature a one up, one down three level design from the entering floor plus a private rooftop deck high up so you get a city view looking west towards the Old Post Office tower. On the inside, a loft area overlooks a double level living room with a wall of glass and mahogany wood floors. For parking, Interpark runs a commercial rental parking garage in the building.
The asking price for the 1700 square feet of MLS #DC6862270? $837,500 which comes in at $493 per square foot. The condo fee comes in at $1009 per month which equates to 59 cents per square foot per month.
Four stories including the roofdeck…we like to think of this one as a townhouse wrapped by a condo.
