Cribs XVI: We Like It On Top
Today we’re off to 715 6th Street, NW (Unit 1202) in The Cosmopolitan condominium and although we have not visited this specific unit, we have visited a unit with a similar floorplan. What do we like about this unit? There aren’t many 3 BR condos downtown but this is one of them so if you’re looking for a spot that has room for visiting relatives and their kids, this is it. Other than the spaciousness, what else do we like about this listing? It features wood floors, western views, a gas fireplace, a nice kitchen, and dedicated parking. And of course, it’s on the top floor.
The MLS number is DC7358861, the list price is $775K, and the area size per public records comes in at 1,295 square feet.

Our Cribs post series explores homes for sale or rent worth pointing out in the downtown DC area. Although the series usually focuses on the core part of downtown which means pointing out condos, we may occasionally stray to adjacent neighborhoods where fee simple houses or commercial properties are for sale. None of these posts are paid placements.

Don’t know why looking at the roof deck of a bar is so bad, considering the bar cannot use the roof deck past 9 PM nor play amplified music at any time. Some condos look down on alleys (think garbage trucks), noisy streets, main thoroughfares, are located by fire and police stations (think sirens) and other things that some don’t like but others are okay with. It’s the city, urban living. Any property may be considered a “very bad deal” by someone, but an informed judgment can lead to a find.
living above a party on a roof deck every night until 9 PM is really not an ideal situation … and I suspect would lead to problemw with re-sale while there are lots of other noises in the city — sirens etc — they are much more intermittant. would agree that looking over an alley that has early morning garbage pick -up is a bad deal as well
lively comments. one of the key reasons we highlighted this unit is because it is so high up and is much, much less susceptible to street noise. we know because we live high up in various buildings downtown also. the unit also faces the front of the building and not the back so the alley does not come into play here. every home has its plusses and minuses…what makes a happy homeowner is that their home fits their lifestyle.
I just looked at a one-bedroom with a den in this building on the 12th floor. It was a beautiful building and condo and very quiet.
Two things… Muse Lounge doesn’t use their roof deck. They were never able to get a liquor license up there from what I remember. Second, it’s the city. You don’t buy a condo across the street from Verizon Center if you aren’t looking for some excitement and activity. And God forbid, some noise.
Poster Van Sant pm makes a great point. Muse rarely uses their roof deck, so to anon@11:30 am’s point, any noise form Muse is more intermittent than the Verizon Center and sirens. That was my point earlier (I am anon@10:28 am) about making informed judgments.
Like Van Sant, PQResident also made an informed observation. The subject unit (#1202) is 12 stories up and on the opposite side of the building. And for the record, this property is now under contract. It moved in one week.

Looked at a 1BR in this bldg a few years ago — the Bedroom windows looked at the roof deck of the Bar next door … Hope this place is on the other side of the building. Otherwise — a very bad deal
