Thanks muchly for the link, though a small correction–this isn’t technically the start of construction on Canal Park; that’s scheduled for March of 2010 (with the park opening a year later). This is just clearing years and years of accumulated debris and getting rid of the parking lots. They’ll be sodding one block and planting grass on the other two to make it a useable open space until construction does begin…
