Here’s what we were reading last week about neighborhood news in DC. Have neighborhood thoughts? Leave them in the comments!
Penn Quarter – We’ve tried Carmine’s at 425 7th St NW and the portions are humongo. Here’s a review you may want to check out. [Girl Meets Food]
Penn Quarter – Our eyes and ears on the street tell us that the former Manhattan Deli (aka roller skating rink pizza) D’Acqua restaurant space in Market Square is to become a Paul Bakery – as in the French domiciled bakery chain with the tagline “Maison de qualité.” C’est vrai! [PQL Intelligence Network]
Penn Quarter – CoCo Sala is opening a retail outlet on F Street NW next to its restaurant. [Washington Business Journal]
Penn Quarter – We poked our heads in the windows of the newly finished Cuba Libre restaurant at 9th and H Streets NW and checked out the snazzy new neon sign too. It looks pretty fantastic and we will be checking it out! [NBC Washington] & [The Triangle]
Shaw/Mount Vernon Square – The Convention Center Community Association (CCCA) has its monthly meeting at the new Shaw library. [Life In Mount Vernon Square]
All Over DC – We will have a new mayor in November. Here’s one blog’s take on the election. [Borderstan]

Someone mentioned Paul’s coming to the former Manhattan Deli space; not so. This French bakery will be in the former D’Acqua space. It will sell breads, croissants, sandwiches and I would hope French pastries, and have both indoor and outdoor seating. Go to http://www.paul.fr for more information about the bakery’s history and its current business — click on United States of America for English. Interesting to see how different the website is when you click on France.
