Penn Quarter – Police Week starts this Friday, May 13. [Fraternal Order of Police] & [National Law Enforcement Officer’s Memorial] & [FOP PW Schedule]
Downtown – Sax, the cabaret style venue replacing Posh at 734 11th Street NW, opens Friday, May 13. [Urban Daddy] & [Sax website]

Penn Quarter (sort of) – DC Brau, DC’s only and recently running production brewery, names a beer after our neighborhood. It’s called Penn Quarter Porter…and it rhymes too! Check out the label here. [Beer News]
Mount Vernon Triangle – They say that the first year of any business is the hardest. The good news is that Buddha Bar has made it to the one year mark and they are throwing a celebration on May 12 with Washington Life magazine. I heard that Sax is opening on Tuesday. Chef Johnny Seningen of Oya designed the menu and everything I tasted was incredible. A colleague said the fondue was the best she had ever tasted, and I swooned over the Bja sea scallop, the heirloom beet, and the duck with foie gras, longoustine and red plum.
