Here’s what we were reading recently about neighborhood news in DC. Have neighborhood thoughts? Leave them in the comments!
Downtown – The “naughty” art on the walls of Sax, the newly opened restaurant on 10th 11th Street NW, gets a little less naughty. We don’t care what the polls say about how many Democrats there are in this town…it’s still buttoned down compared to many. [WaPo (before art)] & [WaPo (after art)]
Penn Quarter – Restaurant 901 is now open at 9th and I Streets NW. The cupola is gone and in its place is a restaurant with a modern interior, long bar and tall glass windows. We stopped by and had a nice draft ale along with the duck quesadillas baked using a flaky pasty dough making them a nice surprise. We’ll need to go back to get an accurate read on the place. [Thrillist] & [WaPo]
Penn Quarter – More brew-ha-ha brouhaha over redrawing the lines of Ward 6 and Ward 2. [WaPo] & [Georgetown Patch] & [CCCA]
H Street NE – The Capitol City Diner opens its patio. [Frozen Tropics]
All Over DC – We couldn’t agree with Colby King more. DC has its budgetary act together while the Feds don’t. [WaPo]
Penn Quarter – One of our favorite events, the Savor craft beer festival, is taking place June 3 and 4 at the National Building Museum. Expect a full PQ Living report after the event. [Savor Craft Beer] & [Savor Beer Week Events]
Downtown – Sarah Palin joins Rolling Thunder [WaPo] and “covertly” visits the Archives [WaPo].
Mount Vernon Triangle – Tom Sietsema reviews Mandu at 453 K Street NW in the CityVista complex. We’ve been a number of times and agree with him about the dumplings. Nice prices too. [WaPo]
